Arconic is currently in search of an Ingot Metallurgical Engineer to join our Tennessee Operations Team in Alcoa, TN.

The Metallurgical Engineer is responsible for:


  • Providing support and leadership to a manufacturing area, laboratories or product line. Support involves using Metallurgy/Material Science experience and knowledge to develop improvement plans for the process to ensure customer satisfaction and drive cost reduction.
  • Addressing quality issues related to the area of support.
  • Evaluating and developing products, processes, and equipment based on customer requirements.
  • Ensuring ISO and IATF procedures, product, and process control
  • Working with support staff in the area, supervisors, and hourly work force
  • Providing input to improve uptime and equipment reliability, and adherence to regulatory and Arconic EHS requirements.
  • Providing day-to-day technical advice, problem solving and support to operations and maintenance by applying quality systems and engineering principles, lean manufacturing and reliability tools to drive problems to root cause.

    Due to the 24/7 manufacturing environment, working off-shift hours and/or weekends to support operations is expected although not always required.


    Basic Qualifications:



    • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Ceramics or Chemical Engineering or Material Science from an accredited institution
    • Minimum of 3 years metallurgical experience
    • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Casting experience
      • Quality system experience
      • Lean manufacturing experience
      • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Statistical Data analysis packages such as Minitab, Spotfire)
      • 5+ years metallurgical experience
      • Master's degree
