Sertoma is currently seeking a Full-Time Director of Residential Services for our Residential Care Program. The shift is full-time, and this is an exempt / salaried position. Director of Residential Services Job Summary: Serves as direct assistance to the Senior Director of Residential Services. Will be responsible for monitoring Licensure and Quality Assurance requirements that involves the oversight of all monthly paperwork by ensuring they are filed for each site in a timely manner. Staff and person supported mock fire drill are completed and turned in the first time they work at a site or after a move. Assist in monitoring daily notes and reporting incompletes to responsible Community Living Manager (CLM) and Residential Coordinator (RC). Track med variances and ensure that the disciplinary & training process is completed and file. Ensure monthly fire drills are conducted at each site. Works on weekends to conduct assigned visits and provide supports to staff. Be available to be on an on-call rotation. While on-call assists with finding coverage for opened shifts. Works actual shifts if there is no staff available or in case of an emergency. Be available 24 hours a day to provide supports to people supported, supervisor and other staff. Work a flex schedule to accommodate shifts worked in the homes. Conduct med pass observations; training all new CLMs; attend all training on therapies; train staff on nutritional compliance and menu planning; attend all required meetings Director of Residential Services Relationships: Reports To: Senior Director of Residential Services. Supervises: Residential Coordinators and Residential Scheduler / Trainer Works With: Case Managers, Clinic Staff, Residential Staff, Records Coordinator, Day Program Staff, Residential Coordinators, Maintenance Staff External Relationships: Conservators and family members. DIDD, Independent Support Coordinators, State Quality Enhancement Team/Surveyors, East Tennessee Office of Licensure, City and County Fire Marshall, Department of Human Services/Adult Protective Services, physicians, and all others applicable. Director of Residential Services Qualifications / Employment Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree preferred. Can accept 2 years college course work plus 6 years' experience with developmentally disabled (or 3 and 3 respectively). Preferred degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Special Education or related field. Work Experience: Supervisory experience preferred, preferably in residential area. One-year experience working in an office environment dealing with multiple forms; and some knowledge of quality control. License or Registration Requirements: Valid TN driver's license and a good driving record. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit and/ or stand for long periods of time; may also require some heavy lifting (i.e., toileting clients). Director of Residential Services Responsibilities: 1. Will thoroughly learn and implement all Sertoma Center, Inc. Personnel Policies and Procedures in an unbiased and professional manner. 2. Will thoroughly learn and implement all standards as set forth by Licensure, Quality Enhancement, Medicaid Waiver, Fire Marshall, and the Center. Will serve as Officer for contract compliance in all areas. Will monitor compliance. 3. Will coordinate, facilitate, document, and participate in all meetings as required. Meetings include but are not limited to residential staff meetings, house meetings, Circles of Support, and Incident Management. 4. Responsible for completing and monitoring all paperwork requirements as assigned. 6. Will coordinate and assist in the communication between residential staff, DRS, RC, and other Center staff. 8. Will assist in training direct support staff in household responsibilities, including those required for licensure, QE, and Fire Marshall standards. 9. Will be available 24 hours a day when on call, according to the rotation. 10. Will assist in assuming CLM duties in the absence of the RC or CLM. This includes scheduling staff, working open shifts, meeting all deadlines in a timely manner, collecting all data, etc. 11. Will conduct unannounced visits as assigned 12. Correct and approve all residential timesheets, verifying by monthly schedules 13. Monitor documentation of RC home visits 14. Hold weekly RC meetings and monthly Community Living Manager (CLM) meetings 15. Must be available on call for all residential emergencies. When on approved leave, the Director of Residential Services call may be delegated to a designated and approved person in the department 16. Responsible for all residential purchases; must approve every expenditure 17. Review new employee training records; work with Residential Coordinator and Community Living Manager to assure that all required training is completed in a timely manner. (This is also required for ongoing training). This will be achieved by remaining alert to new concepts which could improve or enhance either your job individually, the individuals served, or the collective functions of the Agency. 3. Your personal effort is required in order to serve the Agency's guiding principle of ...will utilize sound fiscal principles that stress cost containment. This will be accomplished by your efforts to control overtime expense, turnover of direct care staff, reduction in replacement costs of home inventories due to theft/misuse/mismanagement, and a dedication to safety and quality control. 4. You will adhere to an acceptable level of professionalism to insure the maintenance of confidentiality and discretion necessary in the maintenance of client and personnel records. 5. You will observe all the Agency's routine regarding work schedules, presence during working hours which conforms to those of the Center, designated periods of break time, lunch hour, etc. 6. You will strive to perform all work assignments and activities in an acceptable manner to require minimal supervision. 7. You will perform any other duties as assigned by any director. 8. You must establish and maintain good working relationships with coworkers and clients. 9. Your regular attendance is a job requirement; more than 1 unplanned absence in a 2-month period is considered excessive.
