Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Position Title Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Department ACADEMIC AFFAIRS/PROVOST Position Category Faculty Job Description Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs ( VPAA ), the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible for overseeing assigned responsibilities of the Division of Academic Affairs and supporting the educational goals of Lincoln Memorial University. The position requires skills in organization, communication, and interpersonal relations, as well as a broad understanding and appreciation of the diverse constituents of the University. Required Qualifications earned terminal/first professional degree in a discipline appropriate to higher education; *ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents. Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Campus Harrogate Job Duty Job Duty Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large; Job Duty serve as a confidential advisor to the VPAA ; Job Duty represent the VPAA , as appropriate, in researching and resolving confidential issues involving students, faculty and other university constituencies when resolution is not achieved at lower levels; Job Duty in the absence of the VPAA , act on behalf of the VPAA as necessary to continue the operations of the Office of Academic Affairs; Job Duty coordinate student academic grievance procedures; Job Duty compose and revise, as necessary, policies, procedures, guidelines and other documents that have as their initiating authority the Office of Academic Affairs; Job Duty interpret and disseminate information related to University policies; Job Duty research SACSCOC and program accreditation policies, procedures and guidelines to assist entities reporting to the Office of Academic Affairs; Job Duty prepare, as requested, various accreditation-related reports and other documents Job Duty assist with new program development and initiation while attending to institutional approval processes; Job Duty serve as a member of the Academic Council, Institutional Effectiveness Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, and other committees, as assigned; Job Duty coordinate annual revision of Academic Catalogs and academic sections of the LMU website and Policy/Procedure Manuals; Job Duty facilitate faculty/academic affairs staff search and hiring processes, as requested; Job Duty attend and actively participate in conferences and meetings, as requested; Job Duty participate in budget development and monitoring processes for assigned areas, Job Duty assist as needed with Institutional Effectiveness functions, including Assessment, Institutional Research, and Academic Strategic Planning; Job Duty articulate concerns of the Academic Affairs Office to other divisions/departments of the University, cooperate with University legal counsel as it affects Academic Affairs; Job Duty facilitate annual reporting of objectives and results for the Office of Academic Affairs; Job Duty other duties as assigned.
