The Network Operations Centers / Security Operations Center (NOC/SOC) is a team of hard charging, analytical thinkers who enjoy being the first line of defense against network disruptions and cybersecurity threats. Working in the IT Operations organization in support of the national security mission to maintain the safety, security, and effectiveness of the United States nuclear weapons stockpile, we serve a critical function to identify, investigate and resolve issues while minimizing the business impact. We support multiple technical teams in a 24 x 7 x 365 operational environment with high uptime requirements. We thrive in a high-pressure environment with shifting priorities. We are looking for a Supervisor/Manager to work in concert with the Senior Manager to foster a positive atmosphere, esprit de corps, and improve the skills of our team.
As a Supervisor/Manager in the NOC/SOC, you will help the senior manager with:

  • Interviews
  • Selecting and training employees
  • Setting/adjusting pay scales and work hours
  • Setting performance goals and evaluating progress toward those goals
  • Recognizing or coaching employee performane
  • Planning and apportioning work among employees
  • Working with the Senior Manager and Human Resources on progressive discipline if required
    You will be expected to:
    • Lead the team by providing both strategic direction and hands-on guidance to team members.
    • Assess a situation, determine tactical steps forward, & lead a team in implementing a strategic plan.
    • Lead, manage, and motivate teams in a dynamic, rapidly-evolving and cross-functional environment that is centered around the use of people, process and technology to defend against network disruptions and cyber security threats.
    • Operate and drive security operations and protections for the company.
    • Supervise the implementation of new technologies and business processes to improve efficiency.
    • Develop processes and tools to ensure infrastructure components are being monitored and comprehensive playbooks are developed for quick resolution of incidents
    • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and alignment of position responsibilities for each shift.
    • Have a working knowledge of the ITSM/ITIL framework and can employ the capabilities of available tools to support all aspects of the IT Service Lifecycle.
    • Act as a liaison with senior level directors, other key stakeholders, management, analysts, programmers & other IT / Cyber Security professionals within the organization to identify & execute collaborative solutions.
    • Have an understanding of IT infrastructure systems, such as TCP/IP networking and server infrastructure (Windows, Linux), server hardware (e.g. Cisco UCS, HP Blade systems), monitoring systems (e.g. SolarWinds, SCOM, PRTG), IDS/IPS, data center infrastructure management, and storage hardware
    • Continuously monitoring the availability of all network, applications, and services across the enterprise in a 24x7x365 environment.

        • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering, Computer Science, Managment, or Physical Science discipline with a minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
        • Thirteen or more years of relevant education, training, and/or progressive relevant experience will be reviewed and considered for equivalency to these requirements.Preferred Job Requirements

            Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
            Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
