Job Description:
Collection Specialist (Healthcare)The primary responsibility of
the Collection Specialist is to notify/locate customers whom have
outstanding account balances and attempt to secure
payment.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIESInitiates calls to consumers on
delinquent accounts to secure payments and/or settle account
balance. Efficiently handle high call volumes and work on dialer a
predetermined number of hours daily.Works to maintain assigned
route and keep inventory current.Work to master negotiation skills
to maintain high level of conversion when right party contacts are
made.Evaluate accounts to determine if additional work is needed or
if account should be cancelled.Inventory consists of a mixture of
clients both medical and non-medical.Evaluate and determine if suit
authorization needs to be sent.Process incoming calls from
consumers, employers, insurance companies, etc., and when unable to
assist these individuals route call to the appropriate
department.Performs other duties as assigned by managing
supervisor.SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONSA minimum of 2 - 4 years of related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education
and experience required.Excellent communication skills.Strong
telephone customer service skills.Basic keyboarding skills, and a
knowledge of, or ability to learn about, collection procedures and
governing laws applicable to position.Compliance:Monitors and
ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational
standards, and policies and procedures related to area of
responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of
responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains
records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities
to the Compliance OfficeExcellent benefit package available
