Hamblen CSU Registered Nurse today! The Hamblen CSU Registered
Nurse JOB SUMMARY - Serves as a clinical member of the
multi-disciplinary team, providing treatment, rehabilitation, and
support for client population. - The CSU RN must be adept at
multi-tasking. - Provides direct medical care to clients in a CSU
setting including clients in varying levels of crisis, frequently
working with SPMI and clients with co-occurring issues. - Assists
with crisis interventions and medical emergencies, obtains vital
signs each shift or more frequently as indicated. - Administers
intramuscular injections, communicate with PCPs during recovery
partnership and transition phases, and liaison with other agencies
as indicated. - RN is responsible for triaging referrals,
completing RN intake/assessments on all clients admitted during
their shift, obtaining urine drug screens, BAL and pregnancy tests
on admissions, obtaining admission orders, dispensing routine and
PRN medications, taking orders from prescriber and updating MAR,
completing electronic and paper charting in a timely manner and
participating in treatment team meetings. - Additionally, RN may
take calls from recently discharged clients requesting bridge
prescriptions, follow-up calls on weekends, obtain prior
authorizations and coordinate with pharmacies. - RN collaborates
with Mobile Crisis and Walk in Center assisting with clients being
referred to higher level of care, completing S-BARs. - Required to
be certified in and adequately implement verbal and physical
de-escalation techniques that include a wide range of bodily
movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another
person, going down on knees, running, and walking. - Schedule
requires 12 hours shifts and rotating weekends. - Regular
attendance is an essential job function. - This position requires
certification in and adequate implementation of verbal and physical
de-escalation techniques that include a wide range of bodily
movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another
person, going down on knees, running, and walking. TYPICAL WORKING
CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT - This position is housed at the Hamblen
County Campus and requires both office-based clinical and
administrative work and community-based clinical interactions. -
The CSU RN will be responsible for engaging clients, peers, and
community members in a professional and therapeutic manner. -
Schedule requires 12 hours shifts and rotating weekends. Regular
attendance is an essential job function. - Telehealth and doxy may
be used at times for services resulting in phone/computer sessions
for specific cases. 1. Daily Staff Duties - Performs the initial
admission medical assessment and completes required admission
paperwork including nursing assessment, nursing note and nursing
admission orders. - Update medication tabs. - Update allergy lists.
- Complete paper MAR and EMARs. - Obtain urine drug screen, BAL and
pregnancy tests upon admission. - Follows all established protocols
and guidelines for admission prior to admitting the client to the
unit. - Makes the determination of the appropriate admission
protocols needed for each client (ex.-agitation protocol, diabetic
protocol, HTN protocol). - Obtains admission orders from the
on-call prescriber in a timely manner. - Completes charting for
each client during every shift prior to the end of shift. -
Completes transition paperwork and discusses medication and
aftercare instructions with client and/or family. Provides copy of
paperwork for clients. - Counts narcotics and documents at every
shift change. Notify supervisor immediately of any discrepancies. -
Obtains and charts vital signs on every shift. - Monitor for
significant changes in client's condition/behavior every shift and
make referrals to obtain new orders as needed. - Administer
scheduled, routine, and PRN medication in a timely manner. -
Obtains blood sugars as ordered. - Triages potential referrals with
Mobile Crisis and Walk in Center. - Coordinates arrival times for
potential clients with Mobile Crisis, Walk in Center and
Transporters - Complete C-SSRS on each client - Attend to guest
and/or client needs during medical emergencies (ie: seizures,
falls, etc) - Coordinate with Emergency Departments and EMS -
Obtain Prior Authorizations - Answer phone calls from recently
transitioned guests regarding medication issues - Weekly medication
counts of routine medications - Update Admission/Discharge log each
time a client is admitted or transitioned from unit. - Complete
follow-up calls on weekends in accordance to program requirements.
2. Team Building - Must be punctual and maintain a good attendance
record. - Participates in daily treatment team meetings. -
Participate in shift reports. - Coordinate transitions with other
staff. - Maintains a positive and professional working relationship
with all staff members and supervisors. - Communicates and
approaches conflict in a problem-solving manner with staff and
supervisors. - Accepts additional assignments and/or changes in
assignments to meet the needs of Crisis Services. - Assists Mobile
Crisis and Walk in Center when necessary to obtain vital signs on
clients being referred to a higher level of care. - Promotes an
environment in which cultural diversity and customs, values and
beliefs of individuals are respected. - Schedules and covers as
needed for program. This includes after hours, weekends and
holidays since programs in this division are 24/7. - Will provide
client transport as needed. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES This job

notes, logs, checks, protocols, and admission orders for each
client by the end of shift. 3. RN will monitor the CSU client floor
flow daily and monitor for significant changes in client's
condition/behavior every shift and make referrals to obtain new
orders as needed. 4. RN will count narcotics, perform vitals,
complete screenings (drug, pregnancy, BAL, etc), and administer
scheduled, routine, and PRN medication in a timely manner. 2.
Secondary General Responsibilities: - RN will maintain a positive
and professional working relationship with all staff members and
supervisors evidenced by addressing any concerns/issue in a
professional, confidential manner. - RN will accept additional
assignments and/or changes in assignments to meet the needs of the
CSU/WIC/MCU. RN will provide coverage as needed and be willing to
transport clients. COMPENSATION: - Starting salary for this
position is approximately $31.51/hr based on relevant experience
and education. Schedule: - The Hamblen Crisis Stabilization Unit
(CSU) will operate 24/7, 365 days a year. - The holder of this
position will be expected to work shifts that meet the needs of the
program operation, which may include day, night, weekend, and
holiday hours. - Regular attendance is an essential job function.
Travel: - This position requires utilizing a personal dependable
vehicle to conduct Center business. - Maintaining a dependable
vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment.
Equipment/Technical Competency: - Daily computer competency
required. - Must be able to use Word and Excel programming
proficiently. - Typing and basic computer knowledge is required. -
Must be able to use a scanner/printer and have professional phone
etiquette. QUALIFICATIONS - Hamblen CSU Registered Nurse
Experience: - Experience in psychiatric nursing preferred. -
Experience in working with special populations including
individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness and
Co-Occurring Disorders preferred. - Computer experience is
required. - Experience working in a crisis setting preferred.
Education / Knowledge: - RN with current Tennessee license and
experience in psychiatric nursing preferred. - BSN or ANA
certification as Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse preferred. -
Should have sound knowledge of psychiatric medications, diagnoses,
treatment modalities and interventions. - Ability to use computer.
- Be familiar with Microsoft Office and EMR. - Schedule requires 12
hours shifts and rotating weekends. - Regular attendance is an
essential job function. Physical: - Exposure to biological hazards.
- Hearing of normal and soft tones. - Close eye work. - Frequent
exposure to unpleasant odors. - Schedule requires 12 hours shifts.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. - Pushing/pulling up to 250 lbs. - Frequent
sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. -
Physical de-escalation techniques will only be implemented at
McNabb Center facilities, and not in community settings. - Current
CPR/First Aid certification required. (training provided) -
Mandatory to remain awake and alert during shift. - Must have
