Iconex (www.iconex.com) is headquartered in Duluth, Georgia, USA.POSITION SUMMARY:Slitter Operators support the operation of the entire slitting department by slitting large rolls of paper into small rolls that come in a variety of dimensions according to customer needs. The operator will be responsible for loading/setting up the machine(s) and packing product as needed.RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform set-up and operate slitting equipment to produce product according to quality and productivity requirementsEnsure equipment runs in accordance with operational standardsPerform minor repairs and preventative maintenance as neededEnsure the correct raw materials are being processedMaintain a safe working environment by following all company safety policies and procedures and reports unsafe conditions and incidentsMake adjustment to machines during production by responding to problems found during visual inspectionAssumes responsibility for the quality and quantity produced on the machineObtains information from the computer, prints and applies labelsPosts production information into the computer and/or required production logsAccurately perform and record all required testingProvide communication on a daily basis with management, maintenance, shift personnel, etc.Maintain housekeeping standards of slitter and the surrounding areaPerform packing and material handling tasks as requiredAnticipate and react productively to changes, and willingly handles other tasks as assignedSeek and implement improvement activities through teamwork and CI Process participationPerform other duties as assignedREQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:Two or more years slitting experience preferredHigh School diploma or equivalent. Two-year technical degree preferred.Good mechanical ability, including the ability to use rulers, gauges and calipersWorking knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to working with moving equipmentEffective communications and interpersonal skills to work as a team memberAbility to work independently and make good decisions without constant supervisionWell-developed work habits to ensure smooth machine operation and minimal downtimeProficiency with computers; ability to learn and use additional programsAbility to distinguish differences between finished product and product specificationsAbility to identify maintenance needs and ensure that all required preventive maintenance is performedPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to lift products up to 50 lbs.Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of timeOther physical demands include climbing, crouching, bending, reaching, stooping, etc.EEO StatementIconex enthusiastically engages with our communities of employees and customers every day.
