AIS has an established history of contributing to the success of our customer's mission.Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratory. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.Job Summary:This position will provide support to ORNL organizations to ensure the planning, cost maintenance, and executing of various project schedule goals and objectives. This is a junior level position supporting the project controls efforts on either a large-scale scientific research & development project or large scientific instrument project.Essential Duties:---Work with the project controls staff to develop and maintain schedules, cost estimates, assist with risk identification, and change control.---Provide day-to-day support to the project with schedule and cost maintenance and status, and forecasting and assist in generating monthly reports on project status and performance;---Perform ad-hoc activities as directed by the project controls lead;---Support the project management staff in preparing for various project reviews, including internal and external project status reviews.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: In accordance with President Biden's Executive Order 14042, you must be able to meet all health requirements, including but not limited to, current and future vaccination requirements to infectious diseases such as COVID-19. The Executive Order generally requires that all federal workers and federal contractor employees be fully vaccinated by December 8, 2021.BS/BA in project or construction management, business, engineering or equivalentOne year of relevant experience.Experience interpreting, organizing, and analyzing data from multiple sources.Demonstrated verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated organizational, recordkeeping, and coordination skills.Demonstrated ability to work with multiple levels of management or technical personnel.Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple time-constrained projects and to successfully complete each.Demonstrated experience with efficient multi-tasking, prioritization, problem-solving, resource allocation, and handling of sensitive information to manage the timely production and execution of a variety of concurrent mission-critical deliverables. Must be a U.S. citizenPreferred Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:---Completed project management training and/or certification;---Masters degree in project or construction management, business, engineering or equivalent;---Two years of experience in project controls: scheduling, estimating, risk management, or equivalent project duties;---Some hand-on experience with: Oracle Primavera, Deltek Cobra or similar cost processors, risk analysis and simulation software, change control applications, and custom system and report development;---Very strong communications skills, with the ability to successfully interact with DOE, project reviewers, senior laboratory management and senior project staff members.Special Requirements:---Pre-employment Drug Screen - External applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.---Medical Exam(s) - Job related pre-placement medical examinations may be required for this position.---This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. If determined as such, this position would be identified as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position.
