History of KARM StoresKARM Stores is part of the Knox Area Rescue Ministries which has been serving the Knoxville homeless community since 1960. KARM provides emergency services, meals, shelter as well as recovery programs for those in need. KARM averages 800-1000 meals served each day and can provide bed space for up to 400 every night. Today KARM serves men, women and children through a variety of progressive ministry programs designed to break the cycle of homelessness. For the guests of KARM who are ready to change their life, KARM has programs that assist with that. One of their most successful programs is LaunchPoint Life Academy which will spend time looking at the basics of getting a job, budgeting, and creating a stable environment to build one's life back. The Serenity Shelter is a program specifically for women. It includes various recovery programs and safe havens.The Berea Program is an unprecedented personal development opportunity at KARM focused on work, learning, and service. The objective of Berea is to prepare students for the abundant life God has planned for them and to provide a strong, Biblical foundation to build a life upon after KARM and have successful restoration into the community.All of these programs require funding and that is where the stores come in. One hundred percent of the profits earned through the retail stores help fund Knox Area Rescue Ministries.
