Knoxville, TN. In this position you will work in a fast paced,

The work schedule for this position will be Monday- Friday (2:30pm-
11:00pm) - with rotating weekends.
- Ensures that proper documentation of employee errors/problems
has been communicated/distributed to the employee and supervisor
appropriately.
- Promotes teamwork in the department (encourages employees to
support/assist others when short staffed and to work together when
required) such that all required work is completed accurately, and
in a timely manner.
- Ensures staff is updated and informed of any changes (or other
information), conducting meetings if necessary.
- Clearly communicates all concerns/issues related to assigned
area to supervisor/manager in a timely manner.
- Ensures that all job responsibilities have been effectively
communicated/assigned to staff and accurately completed within
established time frame.
- Addresses job related errors as they pertain to employees or
the department.
- Assists supervisor/manager in performing various assigned
responsibilities (i.e. planning, compliance, troubleshooting,
training, making workflow recommendations, etc.) completely,
accurately and within established timeframes.
- Provides effective on-the-job training, such that performance
objectives are clear, staff member knows and has all skills
necessary to perform effectively, learning includes feedback that
is evaluative, diagnostic and corrective.
- Achieves the desired outcomes for all projects and tasks
assigned within established timeframes.
- Assists with ensuring compliance requirements are met and
appropriate documentation is retained for all employees and test
systems as assigned. Properly documents all new hire
orientation/training processes and retains records according to
departmental and regulatory requirements.
- Assists with inventory management and supply ordering as
assigned.
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according
to established criteria
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions
according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure
proper functionality
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding
testing and problem solving.
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver
quality patient care
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control
procedures
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
- Assist with processing of specimens when needed
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal
protective equipmentLicense/Certification/Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical
Technology or a related science (or 24 credits in Chemistry/Biology
constituting a biological science major) as required by CLIA
- Preferred 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory
- Tennessee state Medical Technologist/Technician (MT/MLT)
license is a plus
- National certification (ASCP or AMT) eligibility is
required
- Must meet CLIA requirements of testing personnel.
- Ability to work independently and within a team
environment
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory
information systems are a plus
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication
and organizational skills
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on
