Job Description:

We are seeking an Estimator candidate. This position is a fast-paced role of high importance to the organization. It requires someone with strong organizational skills and exceptional aptitude with numbers who has the ability to manage multiple tasks within tight time frames. We are looking for a team player that builds positive relationships with trade contractors, vendors, customers, and fellow ELPs. While the majority of our hard bid estimating is in our Knoxville and DC Metro regions, this position can work from any region and will require "short stay" travel at least once per month.

Responsibilities include:

Participates in hard bid estimates and/or proposals.
Review construction plans and specifications to complete quantitative take-offs and support other estimators.
Communicate with subcontractor base with regard to project scope, schedule, risks, etc.
Lead and support bid day tasks including the following: finalize project cost & alternates; verify subcontractors' scopes & costs; analyze project risks; resolve conflict and questions on bid scopes.
Solicit and negotiates quotes from various vendors and subcontractors in an effort to obtain the most competitive cost for materials, equipment and sub-contractor labor.
Develop bidding strategies; implementing those strategies in the bidding process to successful win projects keeping in mind our corporate goals and overall Risk Management Plans.
Participate in the internal review of estimated projects.
Build relationships in the internal review of estimated projects.
Organize and distribute all construction documents in a timely manner to subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers for pricing.
Attend pre-bid meetings, scope review meetings, reviews proposals and negotiate with clients.
Performs other related duties as required or directed.

Best suited candidates will possess the following characteristics:

Must have general knowledge of estimating principles and procedures.
Four-year Construction Management or Engineering degree or equivalent plus a minimum of one year experience in construction; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional aptitude and comfort with numbers.
Strong time management or organizational skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks, with an emphasis on thoroughness, and attention to details.
Ability to work in a fast-paced professional and team-oriented environment.
Ability to travel at least 50%.
