Global Lease ConsultantJob DescriptionPosition Purpose : The Global Lease Consultant will lead data analysis, validation, and reconciliation exercises, to ensure accuracy and completeness of the global lease portfolio. The Consultant will lead processes to deliver accounting and reporting for K-C leases according to US GAAP and International GAAP. The Consultant will be a global contact for accounting and reporting generated via the Global Lease Services team and the CoStar system. The position will provide subject matter expertise to team members, while building their capabilities. The Global Lease Consultant will champion adherence to new and existing global lease administration policies and corporate financial policies related to lease processes. The incumbent will provide subject matter expertise to customers regarding lease administration matters, lease accounting, and the proper interpretation of ASC 842 and IFRS 16, providing the Controller's Office confidence that the lease process delivers accurate accounting entries and properly stated financial reporting.Customers and Customer Expectations : The position reports to either the Senior Manager - Global Real Estate or Manager - Global Lease Services, and works in collaboration with GBS Managed Services leadership and team members, Controller's Office, Treasury, Tax, Record to Reporting teams, external service providers/partners, internal and external auditors, and K-C business units to deliver exceptional service based on subject matter expertise. Customers require timely responses, analysis, and recommendations associated with the real estate and non-real estate lease portfolios and their related accounting and reporting.Scope : Global -K-C's global lease portfolio and all accounting and external reporting related to leasesQualifications/Education/Experience Required :

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Accounting or Finance from 4-year College or university
  • Experience with lease accounting and external reporting under ASC 842 and IFRS 16 is required preferred
  • Corporate Real Estate experience with a large corporation is preferred required
  • Minimum five years of accounting or finance experience with a large corporation.
  • Experience working within SAP or another ERP environment is required
  • Proficiency with CoStar lease administration & lease accounting software is preferred
  • Sound knowledge of industrial/commercial real estate leasing practices is preferred
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, and local GAAP where applicable, is necessary.
  • Knowledge of the financial and business implications of general business practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in English, with skills to influence.
  • Strong collaboration skills to effectively interact with all levels within and outside the enterprise
  • Ability to use sound judgment and work independently in challenging situations with minimal supervision, while maintaining corporate standards
  • Strong skills in analysis and systems logic
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite including ExcelPRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :Function independently with occasional guidance to provide a full range of highly-responsible and highly-skilled lease accounting and administration services which comply with legal and corporate guidelines. These duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Deliver timely and accurate U.S. GAAP and International GAAP accounting and reporting as it relates to leases for K-C globally.
    • Develop and maintain expertise in CoStar software and provide necessary guidance to the team with regard to the system. Coordinate with external providers CBRE and CoStar onto address system issues.
    • Provide routine instruction to 3rd Party Service providers and collaborate on process adherence & improvement.
    • Develop, maintain, and apply subject matter expertise regarding lease accounting and the proper interpretation of ASC 842 (and IFRS 16 where applicable), providing the Controller's Office confidence that the lease process delivers accurate accounting entries and properly stated financial reporting. Complex scenarios can and should be escalated to Manager - Global Lease Services
    • Design and Execute various accounting initiatives including, but not limited to, system implementations, CFI changes, U.S. GAAP changes, and related IFRS changes.
    • Design and implement improved lease accounting processes to ensure added value and enable expansion of services and reduction of K-C costs by bringing more work into Global Lease Services and GBS Managed Services.
    • Design of configurations/processes/reporting
    • Coordinate or prepare audit responses and perform various controls and control reviews.
    • Understand business needs and proactively contribute lease administration expertise in the development, implementation, maintenance and utilization of K-C's global lease portfolio, to provide necessary information for the GBS Managed Services and business unit teams to make timely decisions.
    • Lead development and testing of Global Lease Administration processes.
    • Design and implement effective oversight control processes for services provided by external partners, perform those controls, and maintain adequate documentation.
    • Develop expertise on non-real estate lease abstraction, and act as consultant for team members
    • Advise team members & 3rd party provider on the creation of amortization schedules. Complex scenarios can and should be reviewed with the Manager - Global Lease Services
    • Review lease amortization schedules and entries generated via CoStar by the team as well as the 3rd party service provider.
    • Lead data analysis, validation and reconciliation exercises, to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the global lease portfolio.
    • Coordinate resolution of any CoStar system issues with external providers CBRE and CoStar
    • Work closely with Global Lease Services team members in, establishing and maintaining standard global processes
    • Develop/lead/maintain global E2E processes and monitor adherence to global lease policies
    • Provide input to business units for planning, forecasting and analysis that involves business unit real estate assets
    • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with Procurement, GBS, Supply Chain, Controller's Office, Treasury and Tax.
    • Develop and maintain an understanding of procurement & business practices with regard to acquiring assets.
    • Audit coordination for all types of audits including support for lease audits.
    • D emonstrate a commitment to quality performance through personal initiative, expertise , and creativity in providing support to decisions.
    • Integrate LEAN thinking into the development and improvement of processes.Global VISA and Relocation Specifications:K-C will not provide support for relocation of the chosen candidate for this role, if necessary, relocation will be at the candidate's own expense.
